Emergency Preparedness

Be Ready. Stay Safe.

We each play a role in keeping ourselves, our families, and our communities safe from everyday and unexpected dangers. At Central District Health Department, we’re here to help you stay healthy and prepared—whether it’s severe weather, disease outbreaks, or other emergencies. Taking a few simple steps now can make a big difference later. Let’s prepare together.

The Health Alert Network (HAN) is a way for Health Departments to communicate with local health professionals. This information is available to the public but written with a health care audience in mind. To sign up for Central District Health Department HAN messages please email the Emergency Response Coordinator for CDHD. Click here to see a list of current HAN messages from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Severe weather is the single biggest threat to health and safety for people in CDHD’s area. Storms can lead to flash flooding, damage to your property or loss of power and communications. They can strike quickly and with tremendous force.
